Two Weeks and Counting!!

Well hello everybody!

I am sorry that it has been so long since I posted pictures but as you have read before my camera has broke so most of these pictures are from one of the girls on the team that came here. She has posted all of her pictures on her gallery if you would like to see more. http://picasaweb.google.com/CClearBlue She took some good pictures. Well here we are with only two weeks left and Jennifer and I can't believe where the time has gone. We just today sent out an email today to everyone on our list telling of what has happened here the past few week. I will post that email so that I don't have to write it all out again. Hope that you enjoy the pictures and we will be seeing everyone soon. God Bless!!

Hello all,

Well, our time in Africa is rapidly drawing to a close and the closer we get to coming home, the more exciting and interesting our lives seem to become. For those of you who haven't heard yet, we are expecting our first child in January 2008. Crime in our little area of Jo'burg seems to be escalating too. We have seen God's protection and care several times over in the last week. Our friend Beth was in a restaurant while it was robbed last weekend and then there has been several car hijackings in our neighbourhood, just a couple streets up. They have all taken place outside Beth's house, which is beside 2 of the Lambano houses. One hijacking took place 20 min. after Jen and Christie left Bible Study at Beth's. Praise God for His protection!!! Continue to pray for safety for us and the church here. This last weekend has been the most interesting for us. Early Friday morning, we rushed to emergency (or casualty as they call it here) as Jen was suffering from severe abdominal pain. The doctor couldn't find anything specifically wrong in the urine or blood tests, and figured that it was just a bladder infection or constipation. However she told us to get to a gynecologist that day to make sure that everything was alright with the baby. So we went to a gyne. Friday around noon. He told us the baby was fine, however he was concerned about the abdominal pain and sent us to radiology to check and make sure that it wasn't the appendix acting up. He didn't really think so, but better safe than sorry. So down to x-ray we went for an ultrasound (2nd one so far that day!). To make a long story short, it turned out that Jen's appendix was infected and off we went to meet the surgeon and get admitted to the hospital (which was a really nice one!) By 5pm off Jen went to surgery. Praise God, it went really well. She spent 2 nights in the hospital and came home today (Sunday). We are still a little unsure about how the baby is doing, there is a fairly significant chance of a miscarriage with surgery like that and they are very limited in the drugs that they can use. However, so far, so good and while Jen is really sore, she is slowly feeling a bit better each day. We are so thankful as we have seen God's sovereignty and His hand in this whole weekend. 1.) We saw a really good gynecologist who was very specific in his examination. 2.) Jen's appendix was curled around and stuck underneath, which made it very hard to see in the ultrasound as well as more difficult to get out. The radiologist didn't even see it at first, thankfully he was thorough and kept checking until he actually saw it. 3.)We had a very good surgeon who did an excellent job. 4.) The ward was not very busy this weekend and Jen ended up having a room to herself the whole time. This was great as Jen REALLY doesn't like hospitals, so she didn't have to deal with other people in her room. 5.) Our church family here has been wonderful and very supportive. It's been especially encouraging as we are far away from family in Canada. Please continue to pray for us. Pray for the baby, that it will be unaffected by this and that the rest of the pregnancy will go smoothly. Pray for Jen, that her recovery will be smooth and quick and that she will be ready to travel home in 2 weeks time. Pray for Conrad too, as he will be spending time at home this week. He has also been feeling under the weather lately.Thank you so much for your prayers for us this past year cause we have been seeing the results the entire year we have been here. We are looking forward to seeing everyone when we arrive home at the end of the month. God Bless.

Love,
Conrad and Jennifer

The the trusses finally arrived after being delayed for just over a week. Praise God they made it in one piece.
No cranes here. Good old manual labour to get those trusses on the roof. There were twenty in all and after the first few we got a good system down.
We worked on Saturday to catch for the lost time. By the end of the day we had just over halfway done. I have learned one thing, it is not as easy as it looks. It takes a lot to coordinate that many people and too do a good job.
This is as far as we got the Friday before we left to go to the game park. The team worked really hard and I am really proud of them. They did a great job. The team left just in time before the cold snap came. We received one inch of snow two days after the team left. The last time it snowed in Johannesburg was in 1981!! Nafe and Jeverson enjoyed the snow as well since that was the first time that they have seen it.
